How do you get a street named after you?
Here’s criteria for naming a street after someone
- Individuals must have provided “extraordinary public service or some exemplary contribution” to the public and be associated with the community where the highway is located.
- The designee must be deceased or an elected official who is no longer in office.
Can you rename a street UK?
To change a street name, the council will ballot residents on the issue. At least two-thirds of residents must be in favour of the change before the council takes action. This is a time-consuming process and the council is only able to progress one such change at any time.
